The Karachi police on Monday officially launched the latest mobile application P4U to help citizens to register first investigation report (FIR) of any crime within seconds. The application's launch ceremony was held at Salim Wahidi Auditorium where Karachi Police Chief Dr Ameer Shaikh termed the app a New Year gift for Karachiites. He said the consulates of various countries in Karachi will also benefit from this application as it has been linked with the Google and the others concerned.

"The app has been developed by the Sukkur-based company's IT Engineer Syed Mudassir Hussain," he said, adding that the Karachi police did not contribute even a single penny in the development of the app.

Karachi Police Chief said people would no more have to approach 15 and Madadgar helpline for the registration of FIR because they can register report being in their homes due to the latest app available with their mobile phones. He said applicant's mobile number, his national identity card number (CNIC) and address would be required for the registration of FIR. Once the FIR is saved in the app, its details would automatically be sent to the concerned police station, CPLC and the concerned SP office, Shaikh said.
